Perstorp Group of Sweden and Koei Chemical Co. of Japan have reached an agreement to form a joint venture for the marketing and sales of specialty chemicals to the coatings, lubricants, polymers and specialty chemicals industries, mainly in the Japanese market. The product portfolio will include a range of chemical products from Perstorp and the polyol products manufactured, sold and distributed by Koei Chemical in Japan.
In other company news, Perstorp has sent in a notification to the FDA seeking approval for use of its diol BEPD (2-butyl-2-ethyl-1,3-propandiol) in coating and adhesive formulations.
“We believe that BEPD can play an important role in polyester-based formulations where good flexibility and hydrolytic stability is required,” said Dick Spierenburg, product manager, Perstorp.
